Police hunt armed robbers who left elderly woman with bleed on the brain
These two men are being hunted by police after an elderly couple were attacked with 'extreme violence' during a terrifying robbery at their home.
Detectives released the artist's impressions of the suspects today, two weeks after the couple were attacked with a machete in their home near Aldridge.
The woman, aged 66, was left with a bleed on the brain, while her 78-year-old husband suffered a fractured skull.
Both victims were also left with large cuts to their heads and needed extensive surgery to repair defensive wounds to their hands after attempting to fight off the masked knifemen.
A £5,000 reward remains on offer for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the criminals, who stole jewellery and cash from the house in Bourne Vale.
Detective Chief Inspector Scott Griffiths said: "This was a truly horrifying attack where extreme violence was used for no reason.
"The couple are understandably traumatised by what has happened but have been especially brave.
"We continue to support them at this difficult time and were able to work with them to produce these images.
"I’d urge people to take a close look at the images. Is it someone you know? Have you seen these men in the area? If so, we need to hear from you.
"Our investigation continues at pace, we’ve collected witness statements, forensically examined the scene and are trawling through hours of CCTV.
"We’re determined to bring these dangerous men to justice; if you can help in anyway please get in touch."
The men broke into the home at around 7.30pm on November 24, attacked the couple and fled with a Rolex, other expensive jewellery and a large amount of Euros and Sterling.
The suspects were described as two black males, both in their early 30s and of average build. One is approximately 6ft tall, while the other is slightly smaller.
Both were wearing dark clothing, while one was wearing a dark-coloured bandanna across the face and the other wore a balaclava.
